Oakville scored 25 seconds into the extra session to pull out a 4-3 triumph. The Sky Blue Ducks had also been severely tested in the semifinal, edging Hamilton 1-0. In round-robin action, Oakville posted 4-1, 2-1 and 1-0 wins. Players on the team are Laura Wilson, Colleen Doherty, Kassandra Dube, Jamie Fergus, Ashley Runciman, Katie Cavasin, Laura Hunter, Katherine Wallace, Sarah Longo, Christina Wilson and Christy Fergus. Awards week determines champions but it is also about fun for the more than 3,000 house league players and their families. Players and families are encouraged to attend their division's championship game and cheer on the two teams that came on top during playoffs, while all players will parade onto the ice for awards presentations following their division's championship game. This year, the Minor Oaks MOMS will present more than 2,500 trophies to players from tyke to juvenile. Players in the initiation program will enjoy their graduation festival tomorrow at River Oaks Recreation Centre. They will all receive participation awards, courtesy of the division's sponsor, Tim Hortons. Esso participation awards will be provided to all players in all divisions. An admission fee of $3 will be charged to parents in order to defray the costs of Awards Week. All MOHA players wearing their jerseys, children five and under, seniors, sponsors and volunteers will be admitted free of charge. Minor atoms eliminated The final win of a playoff series is often the most difficult to get, as the Oakville minor atom AAA Rangers found out in their first-round OMHA playdown series against St. Catharines. Oakville won the first three games of the first-to-eight-points series, only to have the Falcons rally to win the next four and eliminate the Rangers. St. Catharines edged Oakville 2-1 in overtime in the decisive seventh game, following the Falcons' last-minute 4-3 victory in Game 6. St. Catharines also posted triumphs of 6-3 and 3-1 after the Rangers had opened the series with 4-2, 6-2 and 4-0 wins. Ashur Elliot, Cole Buchan, Jesse Barwell, Sam Vasilaros-Wilson, Dallas Taylor, Luke Whitehouse, Mitchell Prentice, Austin Seaver, Andrew Dumaresque and Craig Cook scored goals for the Rangers during the series. Oliver Chau and Josh Kosack contributed assists, while Ben Blacker earned the shutout in Game 3.
