8- The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday March 28, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com Group's goal was to provide advice to the Mayor Continued from page 6 solution that we believe will be acceptable in the wider community. Our end product was advice to the mayor, nothing more. It is his to build upon, disseminate, or ignore as he sees fit. The usual processes have not been short-circuited at all and perhaps we have found a means for the mayor and council to move forward on this very emotional issue. Five members of the community worked many hours on this. The group was specifically assembled from individuals who have been working on this issue for the last year. We developed a wide range of documentation and information on the subject. We also drew data and conclusions from the Town's Urban Forest Report which was released in October. We did this all on our own time, at no cost to the Town. We believe that the advice we provided will be useful if council chooses to pursue this issue. We have addressed the concerns raised about "developer clear cutting" and the protection of large stature trees, while minimizing the impact on homeowners and property rights. You have done us all a disservice with your incorrect statements and you owe us an apology. GLEN HERRING
