Two weeks after trustees with the Halton District School Board rejected two French-language names for a purely French immersion school opening in the west end, they have agreed on a name for the elementary facility. "As much as I like Grand Oak the majority of people, and kids, liked Forest Trail." Bateman-Olmstead said while the official name of the school will be Forest Trail, it's likely that the actual nameplate affixed to the school's exterior will say Ecole Forest Trail School, a common practice with schools offering French immersion, she noted. Ecole means school in French. Forest Trail is designed for 550 pupils accommodating Grades 1-8. It is scheduled to open as a Grades 1-7 school this September accommodating students within a `single-track' French Immersion structure; it will be a bilingual school with all students receiving 50 per cent instruction in both English and French.
