Last year, the participating banks more than doubled their goal of $40,000, raising more than $82,000 for the purchase of new hospital beds. This year's fundraising goal is $100,000. During the four-week campaign leading up to the race, the six banks will compete to see who can raise the most funds to support the purchase of hospital beds. Over 20 branches from the six banks (BMO Bank of Montreal, CIBC, HSBC, Royal Bank, Scotiabank and TD Canada Trust/TD Waterhouse) are participating in this year's Bank Bed Challenge. The Bank Bed Challenge will culminate with bed races through the streets of downtown Oakville on Sunday, April 29. Each bank will race an old, but distinctly decorated hospital bed to the finish line. Races begin at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Lakeshore Road East and Navy Street and will end at George Street. RBC won the Bed Race while Scotiabank took home the title of Top Fundraiser in last year's challenge with a total of $31,000.
