It features new works by artists Gisele Comtois, Win Henstock and Andrea Padovani. A Quebec native, Comtois' works in the show include nine new paintings from her landscape and visions of a 2005 trip to India. Artist and gallery owner Henstock is showing eight new pieces in the show, including landscapes and florals. Finally, Padovani, a Verona native known for his unique impressionist views, has both interior and exterior works included in the recently-opened show. Win Henstock Gallery opened in 2006, and now features 19 nationally and internationally-acclaimed artists. They include Helen Lucas, Joanne Clarke, Art Cunanan, John Joy, Siggy Puchta and Bruce and John Yardley. Spring Thaw runs to April 30 at Win Henstock Gallery, which is located at 334 Lakeshore Rd. E. Meet an Oboist concert April 28 The Oakville Symphony Orchestra will continue its series of mini-concerts for young people in April with a chance for youth to `Meet an Oboist.' That oboist is Karen Rotenberg, a professional musician in the GTA for 20 years, who will lead an amusing and informative presentation. Currently, Rotenberg performs in the `Meet a Musician' program with the Peel Board of Education, and is the Principal Oboist with both the Brantford and Mississauga Symphonies, in addition to playing with the National Ballet Orchestra and the Esprit Orchestra. This 30-minute interactive mini-concert will take place in the lobby of the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, 130 Navy St., on Saturday, April 28. Other features of the Poetry Café include readings by organizing poets, a chapbook of poems read and an open mic session.
