Relay teams are groups of 10 and for those who don't have enough, the Canadian Cancer Society, Oakville Unit will help them find more team members. This year the team members will be dressed as Elvis. The team moniker is Elvis Lives. Wood's pottery class instructor has helped her design a necklace that reads "HOPE," which the team will sell at the Marketplace a new feature at this year's relay. While the team participates together in the relay, fundraising is done by each team member. Teams are encouraged to fundraise and register online as that makes it easy for people to sponsor them. Lisa Moffatt, fundraising co- Sandy Edgar ordinator at the Canadian Cancer Society, Oakville Unit, said in 2006, the Blushing Brides raised $5,115.38. "Wood and her team really embrace the idea of relay. They always like to come up with an offthe-wall idea for their team and make their time at Relay a true celebration," said Moffatt. Last year was her first at Oakville's relay and she witnessed the working volcano erected by the team Shaynanigan's Volcano with Ian, Sandy and their daughter, cancer survivor, Shayna McDonald, who won for Best Tent. Moffatt said Pam's Pride participates in honor of a young girl, now passed away, who was a Leafs fan -- and come in hockey gear. There's also a team that arrives as Santa and his elves. More than 120 teams have registered for this year's event. Moffat said last year 184 teams raised $537,000. It's hoped 160 teams will raise $613,000 this year.
