In 1912, Blakelock's brother James also came to Canada from Yorkshire and together they established the Blakelock Brothers Lumber Company. Later, Blakelock entered public life as a councillor of the Town of Oakville and later successively served as deputy reeve, reeve, warden of the County of Halton, mayor and member of the Ontario Legislative Assembly for 18 years. After leaving provincial politics he served on the Oakville-Trafalgar District High School Board for ten years as a member and then chair. He was also on the local parks management board. As T.A. Blakelock opened in 1957, it bore Blakelock's name in recogni- tion of many years of service to the province and community. Expanded over the years physically and within its student body, today Blakelock represents students with heritages from more than 50 countries, it is home to a thriving drama program as well as sports, music and academics. The Hall of Fame ceremony will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow and continues a new tradition which began at Blakelock several years ago to recog- nize the achievements of its alumni. Among the inductees to date are Dan Ferrone and Otto Jelinek. 2007 inductees are playwright/ director Djanet Sears and David Kantor, a former member of the Canadian Volleyball team who, in 1999, helped Canada win a bronze medal at the Pan-Am Games and co-founded the Oakville Catholic Youth Organization. On Friday, April 27 reunion registration will be from 5-10 p.m. and will include an open house at the high school and a pub night. On Saturday, April 28, there will be an open house, jam session and alumni games from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school, followed by a reception at St.Volodymyr's Cultural Centre on Dundas Street at 7 p.m. to midnight.
