www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday April 25, 2007 - 25 Artist's Get-Away open house Sunday A trip to Tuscany has wound up in a St. Mildred's-Lightbourn student getting her artwork published in a book. The young artist is 16-year-old Tori Adams, who had the opportunity to participate in an Artist's Get-Away to Anghiari in Tuscany last summer, lead by Oakville artist, Dawn Angela Seeley. She experienced the medieval villages, the countryside, the culture and the history all the while under the tutelage and mentoring of artist Seeley. During the trip, Adamsi met Giuseppe Dini, a local resident of Anghiari, who partnered with Seeley to co-author a book entitled An Adventure in Tuscany with Beppino, the Friendly Tuscan Wolf. Adams created and designed the artistic branding of Beppino the Friendly Tuscan Wolf. Her art will appear in each chapter of the book which will be launched this summer. The `In the Poetry Closet' discussion on Saturday, April 28 is for people who write poetry, but are still "in the poetry closet in that their friends and family often don't even know that they write poetry," says organizer and poetry enthusiast Elka Ruth Enola. The workshop is set up to give these poets confidence to share their work with friends, family, other poets, and to help them overcome the fear most poets felt when they first "went public," Enola says. Topics for discussion include, what is poetry? What is good poetry? What is the actual procedure you use for writing poetry? What can I do with my poems after I write them? The `Out of the Poetry Closet' on April 28 is for the more experienced poets. A discussion is planned on topics including, how do you keep track of your poetry? How do you deal with poetry contests? What critiquing does your poetry get? What is good poetry? Do you force yourself to write? How do you deal with writer's block? Panel members for both discussions are Elka Ruth Enola, Linda Cassidy, Margaret Newton and Geoff Weaver, who represent a broad range of experience and approaches to poetry. The `In the Poetry Closet' discussion will run from 1 5 p.m. on Saturday with the `Out of the Poetry Closet' discussion on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Both are free and will take place at the Oakville Central Library on Navy St. Poets can attend either or both events.
