The Rangers, a collection of first-year rep players, were also finalists in the Tri-County Harrison Division, Ace Bailey Memorial Tournament semifinalists, Lincoln Memorial champions and OMHA quarter-finalists this season. William Hyde, Alex Semenets and the Canadian squad will face the U.S., Costa Rica, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago in the CONCACAF Group B Qualification tournament that begins tomorrow in Jamaica. The top three teams in the group will earn berths in the World Cup, scheduled for Aug. 18 - Sept. 9 in Korea. Canada will face the host Jamaican team tomorrow in its first game of the qualifier. Hyde and Semenets are the fourth and fifth Oakville Blue Stars to have joined this particular Canadian team in the past two years, joining former national team members Shomesh Choudhuri, Kyle Bekker and Andrew Barsalona. The Canadian under-17 team has not qualified for the World Cup since 1995, when Oakville residents Paul Hayward, Danny Gallagher and Ed McMillan were part of the national club. Those three played for coach and Oakville Sports Hall of Famer Phil Iafrati, as have the five Oakville players that have been part of the current under-17 team. The Canadian under-20 team, meanwhile, has automatically qualified for its World Cup tournament since Canada is hosting the event this summer. As per the Constitution of the OHGHA Agenda items will include: (1) The minutes of the preceding Annual General Meeting; (2) The presentation of the Financial Statements, which is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles; (3) The election of Officers. Nominations must be submitted to the secretary in writing 14 days prior to the annual meeting. Registration will be held from 9-10 a.m., with tee times commencing at 11 a.m. (scramble format). Use of the driving range and practice green is available. A buffet dinner will follow the day of golf. Cost per player is $95 (including golf and dinner), while carts are available at an extra charge ($34 per twoperson cart). Businesses can also sponsor a hole for $200 or donate towards the prize table. The Oakville Hornets Girls Hockey Association is a volunteer-based organization that provides house league and rep hockey for girls between the ages of 5-19.
