In her first competition in more than a year, due to a herniated disc in her lower back, Johnstone won gold in the Ladies' Gold Free Skate and added a silver in Gold Interpretive at the Oshawa Invitational Skating Competition in February. She followed that up with a silver-medal showing at the Central Ontario Section StarSkate Championships in March and a fifth-place effort at the all-Ontario Trillium StarSkate Championships several weeks ago.
