There's still time to register a team of 10 for the 2007 Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life in Oakville. To date, over 150 teams have registered to take part in a night of fun, friendship and fundraising as Oakville demonstrates its support in the fight against cancer. Registration for 2007 couldn't be easier. Participants can instantly register online at cancer.ca/relay using the interactive Relay for Life website. Participants will have the chance to build their own web page with photos and reasons why they have chosen to Relay. Participants can also e-mail family and friends with e-invitations to join their team or to pledge them in the event. The Oakville Unit is also available to take inperson registrations Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Oakville Unit is located at 635 Fourth Line, Unit 51. On Friday, June 1 thousands of participants and cancer survivors will gather at Appleby College as Oakville celebrates its 6th Relay For Life event. Because cancer never sleeps. -- Submitted by the Canadian Cancer Society Oakville Unit Cropping for a cure OTMH's Mother's Day raffle The Auxiliary to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) is holding a raffle for Mother's Day. The raffle is for a Luxury Mother's Day Pamper basket valued at $900. Tickets cost $2 each and are available in the OTMH lobby until Friday, May 11. The draw will be Friday, May 11 at 2:30 p.m. Proceeds will be used to purchase medical equipment for Diagnostic Imaging and the Maternal Child Units. DEREK WOOLLAM / SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER PASTIME PAYS OFF: Heather Zulak and other avid scrapbookers gathered at Saint Simon's Anglican Church recently to Crop For A Cure. The event helped to raise more than $1,500 for B.R.A.I.N Child to support brain tumor research at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. Two local scrapbookers, Mary Panetta and Alyson Colosia , hosted the second annual event. Last year proceeds went to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Community Resource Fair for those with special needs The Halton Regional Centre on Bronte Road will be the place to be Tuesday, May 8 as a Community Resource Fair will be held to feature programs and services for people of all ages with disabilities and special needs. The fair will take place from 2-8 p.m. in the auditorium of the Centre located at 1151 Bronte Rd. Enter on the north side of the first building north of the QEW. Admission is free. The event will showcase more than 50 community organizations that serve persons with all types of disabilities. Exhibitors will include housing and person support services, education, advocacy, supported employment passages, leisure, recreation, exercise, camps, fundraising, seniors services and others. The fair will be hosted in partnership with Erinoak, Serving Young People with Physical Disabilities, Community Living Oakville, Community Living Burlington, Community Living North Halton, Halton District Public School Board, Halton District Catholic School Board and Halton Region.
