Summer 2007 646 4th Line at Speers Rd. The New WELCOME TO CAMP: Lieutenant Colonel Eric Palm, of the United States Army, stands beside a sign at the front entrance of Camp Speicher in Iraq where he recently finished a six-month tour of duty. The Oakville resident, who works for Direct Energy, is a reservist and 23-year military veteran, who previously served in the first Gulf War. An Oakville man is enjoying some much needed rest and relaxation with his family after returning from a land torn apart by war, not Afghanistan...Iraq. Lieutenant Colonel Eric Palm, a resident of Oakville for seven years, is also a Reserve Officer in the U.S. Army. The Minnesota native, who had been living in Northern Virginia with his wife, Carla, and their three children Allie, 12, Kyle, 11 and Emily, 9, came to Canada to work with the consulting firm Direct Energy, settling in Oakville when a permanent position within the company emerged. A 23-year veteran of the American military Palm first joined up in 1984 receiving his commission right after graduating university through the Reserve Officer Training Corps Program. Retiring from active service in 1990 Palm continued to serve his country in the reserves making the trip to his unit in Buffalo, New York about twice a month. As a military officer Palm has seen his fair share of deployments being stationed in Germany, Panama and Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War. However, none of these compared to the orders he received late last year informing him that he was to be deployed to Iraq for a six-month tour of duty. "It didn't come out of the blue completely in that we had talked about this happening over the last couple of years," said Palm. 905.845.4211 sales@oakvilledodge.com See Soldier page 3 DORVAL DR.
