www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday May 11, 2007 - 47 Indulge in Italian, Mediterranean, Australian, Thai, Caribbean, Cajun and Asian cuisine at The Rude Native With unbridled enthusiasm, excess experience and an entrepreneurial appetite Craig Nazareth and his wife Krista ThomsonNazareth are the new owners of The Rude Native. Since taking over the reigns from their good friend and the restaurant's founder Brad Townsend in September, this couple has been hard at work putting their personal thumbprint on the restaurant that is renown for its global fare of Italian, Mediterranean, Australian, Thai, Caribbean, Cajun and Asian tastes. Craig and Kristen spruced up the interior of the 10-year-old restaurant by painting the dining room walls and hanging new bold artwork on them-- paintings that are as much a conversation piece as the food served on the plates. Craig, along with Rude Native's longtime chef Peter Wilson have kept the menu favourites including Pad Thai and Curried Chicken, and added a few new items that are sure to pique diner palates, such as Panko Crusted Sea Scallops with summer greens and a lobster avocado summer roll. The changes are certainly welcome by loyal regulars and attracting curious newcomers too. "We're doing well, we can't get any busier on a Friday or Saturday night," said Craig. Taking ownership represents a sort of coming home for Craig and Krista. The pair previously worked at The Rude Native, which is where they initially met three years ago. Seeking adventure they traveled to work in the Caribbean where Craig enhanced his culinary skills working as a dining room chef in a Four Seasons Hotel. The Rude Native now combines the standards of service learned from the couple's time spent in the high-end hotel scene, with the comfortable environs and eclectic fare of this established bistro. Simply put, the Rude Native is casual fine dining for the upper crust crowd. It's affordable with an emphasis on fine food and impeccable service. "People want to be wowed by excellent service, exquisite food that is priced right in an amiable ambiance," said Craig. And with Rude Native's longtime chef Peter Wilson and general manager Jennifer Scott running the show at the downtown restaurant The Rude Native is in capable hands.
