"Two new Town parks in Oakville will create more opportunities for families to get outside and enjoy the outdoors." The news of the donation was well received by Oakville Mayor Rob Burton, whose council will determine how exactly the parkland will be used. "We will of course keep in mind that there are very few communities in Ontario where field sports are bigger than in Oakville and there is a large demand for field sports playing space," he said. "So, it's easy to imagine that that's one of the uses that will be made of this land." Of these 100 acres an 18.4-acre parcel is being used to replace Palermo Park, which was taken out of commission during the realignment of Bronte Road.
