The nominees in the Seniors' Award category are outstanding examples of Oakville residents who continue to add value and much needed support to so many organizations in town. The nominees are: George Anthony ­ nominated by Kathy Damer-Basso With Churchill Place as his home, George is an avid volunteer and advocate who helps and inspires others around him. George has been instrumental in developing the Churchill Chimes choral group that entertains retirement residences and long-term care facilities throughout Halton. Don Cangiano ­ nominated by Debbie Routhier As a passionate hiker, Don volunteers his time with the Bruce Trail Association. He serves on the Iroquois Board of Directors and is currently Editor of the `Bruce Trail Treadway'. In addition, he is a regular trail maintenance volunteer who helps maintain the 120km of trail in the Iroquois section. Hennie Vermeer, Special Olympics Oakville ­ nominated by Teresa Demytruk Hennie has been involved with Special Olympics for over 30 years and Oaklands Regional Centre for approximately 25 years. Hennie is an inspiration to her fellow volunteers, the athletes and their parents/caregivers.
