Dated at the Town of Oakville this 9th, day of June, 2007 The final witness took the stand yesterday in the seconddegree murder trial for a man who killed and dismembered his sister. George Arsoniadis, 30, has pleaded not guilty after his sister Helen's body was found butchered on July 11, 2005 in the 40 Old Mill Rd. apartment the siblings moved into a week earlier. George has admitted to causing Helen's death, but told the Milton court she died while attacking him and reaching for a box of knives as he was restraining her with an arm around her neck. George also told the court that if police hadn't been led to her remains after neighbours complained of the smell, he wouldn't have reported Helen missing. Parts of Helen's body were found boiled and frozen, but 75 per cent of it is missing, so an autopsy failed to determine a cause of death, the court heard earlier. A forensic psychologist testifying yesterday for the Crown critiqued findings revealed by another psychologist called by the defence on Thursday. His critique was based on tests that found George showed a "restrictive range of emotion" and traits of schizoid personality disorder that "could have something to do with his behaviour following the death of his sister." Dr. Percy Wright, who works at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, filed a report based on the findings of Dr. Nathan Pollock's testing. "I'm very worried that the actual meaningfulness of these test results has been overstated," he said. Wright told the jury the test's conclusions didn't properly factor in the response bias and the fact that George "presented himself as morally virtuous, as in, `I never lie, I never get angry.'" While Pollock did take this into account in affecting the results and he and Wright agreed this wasn't "extreme," Wright said it's important to be "very cautious" when taking conclusions from the test's results with this bias. Wright also said Pollock's suggestion of a brain dysfunction causing this behaviour was not investigated or supported by any data in the study. He criticized Pollock for not taking more notes and hearing more details of the case before conducting the study, and also for not getting more collateral information about George from family, friends and co-workers to compare with his findings. The trial resumes Tuesday with closing statements from both the Crown and defence. Justice John Sproat is expected to make his charge Tuesday afternoon and said the jury should expect to make its deliberation starting Wednesday morning.
