By the end of the camp, she was able to connect with her charges, an experience which has made her a stronger leader. Schumann-Johns has also volunteered with the Rotary Club in Ghana, where she participated in a campaign to immunize children against polio. She is also a member of the school choir, and a member of the Global Issues Council. She plans on a career as a special education teacher.
