Students of the now closed high school, who graduated between 1990 and 1999, are being called to a celebratory reunion at the Oakville Philthy McNasty's at 210 North Services Rd. W. on Saturday, July 21. The festivities, which begin at 7 p.m., promise to give partygoers a blast from the past. "There's going to be all '90s music and we're going to have '90s paraphernalia and decorations," said former QEP student and reunion organizer Hilary Baker. "There's going to be a video montage of us in high school with '90s music and there will be door prizes." The get together is being held not only to enjoy fond high school memories, but also to come to the aid of fellow Q.E.P. alumni Brendan Carlin, who is struggling with leukemia. Baker says, Carlin a QEP grad of 1997 is currently undergoing chemotherapy in Thunder Bay. Proceeds from ticket sales to the reunion are intended to help his wife and young daughter . While Facebook has allowed Baker to get around 200 people committed to attending, she is hoping others will see this article and also attend. "I'm hoping more will find out through word of mouth. I know that the parents of a lot of students still live in Oakville," she said. Tickets for the event can be purchased at Philthy McNasty's and cost $20 at the door --$15 in advance. Baker says she is eager to see her old school mates again and hear where their lives have taken them. "It's been 10 years for the '97 graduating class, which I was part of, so there have been a lot of changes," said Baker, cradling her young son. Seeing people that made high school memorable holds greater significance now, as the site of those memories no longer exists with the closure of QEP in 2004. "This will be nice because there is no connection now to the old Q.E. it's now just a bunch of homes," said Baker.
