So, despite winning her second Ontario Physique Association (OPA) title, Czerwinski is taking a pass on the national championships in August. "I like to enjoy the barbecue season every once in a while," Czerwinski said. "I don't want to be dieting eight months of the year." Czerwinski, who finished ninth at nationals in the middleweight division in 2006, will still have plenty of time to compete at the national level. Her provincial victory earned her an exemption to the Canadian championships until 2009. You can't blame the 32-year-old Oakville native for skipping nationals, given what goes into building her championship physique. In order to prepare for provincials, it took three months of following a strict diet -- no barbecues -- as well as four to five hours a day, six days a week, working out in the gym. Czerwinski won her first OPA title in the middleweight division in 2005 but her most recent victory came in the lightweight division. Czerwinski began body building just over five years ago after attending a competition with a friend. "I wanted to try it and see if I liked it, to see if it was my cup of tea, and it was my cup of tea," she said. "As soon as I started competing, that was it. After the first show, you either have the bug or you don't." And although it requires a big commitment on her part, Czerwinski said it is the challenge that keeps her coming back. "I just like to see what can be achieved and then see if I can achieve it," she said. Natalie Czerwinski WHAT LOC AL BUSINESS SEARCH C AN WALK AND TALK? AS K T H E G OR I L L A .
