We've all heard about carbon fibre and we can freely associate its lightweight strength with everything from sports equipment to yacht hulls and the protective tubs of race car cockpits. Using those same stonger-and-lighter-than-steel qualities, carbon fibre helps stiffen both sides of the new Eagle F1 to help maintain enhanced contact with the road during hard cornering. "Those tiny micro-scale fibres provide macro-scale performance," according to Jay Robinson, lead engineer on the project. The use of carbon fibre in a tire first debuted last year in Goodyear's ResponsEdge lineup. The Eagle f1 All Seeason also harnesses an Ultra High Performance Zone with aggressive shoulder blocks and a continuous center rib to provide more performance control from the edges and middle of the tire.
