The student-planted Dreamacres Naturalization site, located behind Sunningdale Public School, was bulldozed flat Wednesday after six trees, also planted by students, were relocated to a different section of school property. Sunningdale Public School, at 1434 Oxford Ave., is a Grade 1-6 French immersion institution. The removal of the naturalization site comes in the wake of a decision by the Halton District School Board to house six new portables on the land the garden was occupying. The deconstruction brought tears to the eyes of many of the parents and volunteers, who make up the Dreamacres team, which is dedicated to engaging students in schoolyard beautification.
