www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday August 15, 2007 - 5 Oakville man charged following collision that endangered unborn child An Oakville man has been charged in connection with a head-on collision in Nichol Township on Saturday night, which injured a pregnant woman and threatened the life of her unborn child. Police say April Dawn Reay, 25, was taken to Groves Memorial Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery to remove her eight-month male child. She and her child were transferred to McMaster University Hospital in Hamilton where Reay is listed in stable condition and her baby is listed in serious condition. The other passenger in the car was uninjured, police say. Police say the collision occurred when a 1997 Dodge pick-up truck crossed the centre-line of Hwy. 6 and hit head on a Jeep driven by Reay. Police allege the driver of the pickup truck was intoxicated. The driver of the Dodge fled the scene on foot and ran into the fields, where he was eventually located by members of the Western Region OPP Emergency Response Team and the County of Wellington OPP Canine Unit. David Graham Currell, 21, of Oakville, faces charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm, driving with more than 80 mgs and failure to remain causing bodily harm. Technical Collision Investigators from Western Region OPP were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. The investigation is continuing.
