Oakville won a pair of prestigious tournaments in recent action, claiming gold at the Mel Ott Extravaganza in Amherst, N.Y. and then returning home to earn the Adam Fedoruk Memorial Tournament title. "This was a great way to end the season," said Major All-Stars manager John Mooney. "It is only the second time in nine years that Oakville has been able to win (the Adam Fedoruk tournament)." Oakville clinched gold at that tournament with an 8-4 doubling of the Ancaster Cardinals in the final. Jason Darichuk helped the Major All-Stars build an early 4-0 lead, clubbing a three-run homer in the first inning. Josh Brough stroked a clutch two-out double in the fourth inning and Justin Smardjzic came through with a two-out single in the fifth as Oakville tacked on two more runs in each of those frames. Alex Cangemi went the distance on the mound for Oakville, striking out five and inducing 13 groundball outs from the Ancaster hitters. In round-robin play, Oakville rolled to a 3-0 record. The Major All-Stars pounded Stoney Creek 10-2 as Cangemi hit a pair of home runs and Michael Brooks added a solo blast, then hammered the Erindale Selects 20-0 and shut down Ancaster 6-1. Chris McKay swatted a grand slam and Cangemi also went deep for Oakville against Erindale, while five Oakville pitchers combined to hold Ancaster to one hit in six innings.
