The charity event is organized by Charterability to help raise funds to help build a boat for persons with disabilities or mobility challenges. The event will feature a dinner dance, pre-cruise treats on the pier including hors d'oeuvres, oysters, sushi and samosas. The ship takes off Thursday, Sept. 6 from the Oakville Pier on Navy St. It will leave the dock at 7 p.m. and return at 11 p.m. Tickets cost $60 each. (905) 891-0024 www.csnn.ca Classic cars and Elvis at fundraiser An Elvis impersonator, live bands, cotton candy and classic cars are all part of a fundraiser for the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 25. GK's Fifties Diner, 359 Speers Rd., is hosting Classic Cars for Kids from 12 5 p.m. The outdoor event, which will be housed under a tent in the parking lot, is a Classic Car sock hop theme. Vouchers are available at the restaurant now, redeemable for a cheeseburger and Cherry Coke on the day of the event. The vouchers will also be available on site on Saturday. The cost of the vouchers are $3.50 apiece, with $2 going to the hospital foundation. Donations will be welcomed at any time during the event, and all proceeds from the cotton candy machine will also benefit the hospital foundation. The Elvis Presley impersonator will begin at 12:30 p.m., and bands will take the stage afterwards throughout the afternoon. Drama Series returns in September Continued from page 29 Those involved in WEST productions who picked up awards included Brenda and Ann Barnshaw for music direction, Lisa and Christine Brkich for choreography and Lorraine CooperGrenke for costume design in The Secret Garden. Franny McCabe-Bennett picked up the Best Female Supporting Actor award for her role as Julie in WEST's Perfect Wedding. The Burl-Oak Theatre Group picked up best set design for The Noble Pursuit, and Chris Reid was also recognized for his role as Noble Harmsworth with a Best Male Supporting Actor award. The Oakville Players gave out four awards to members who had provided exceptional support to the group during the season. The four honoured by TOP President David Nash were Judy Henderson, Kim Overbaugh, Mark Ellis and Steven Bourgon. BOTG Members' Choice Awards were handed out to three people, one in each production: for Self-Help Rob McMullan was awarded for his directing; Cher Guest for Lottie in The Dark at the Top of the Stairs; and Andrew Park, who in an emergency took on Percy Fawcett in The Noble Pursuit. BOTG Executive Committee Awards went to Jill Ash, John Overy and Susan Forde while John Smissen recognized Randy Smye with the BOTG President's Award.
