A solid performance in the final round of competition enabled the Oakville Gymnastics Club member to jump from fifth place to third. Mackinnon also retained his secondplace ranking on the Canadian national age group team, and will next compete at the World Age Group Championships in Quebec City this fall. Teammate Ryan Stephenson also fared well at the Canada Cup, finishing fifth in the senior men's tumbling division. Ranked fifth in Canada, Stephenson will travel to the world championships this fall as an alternate, and will also participate in a match competition between Canada and Great Britain. World Cup events in Poland and Russia are also on his calendar before the end of the year. Other Oakville Gymnastics Club athletes to compete at the Canada Cup included Jonathan Meehan (fifth in Novice 10-14 men's tumbling), Lauren Rotolo (11th in Novice 10-14 women's tumbling) and Kelsey Brasil (18th in Novice 10-14 women's tumbling). Sports Council goes on-line The Oakville Sports Council has a new on-line look. The council recently announced the launch of its new website, w w w. o a k v i l l e s p o r t s c o u n c i l . c a , designed to create a stronger visual presence within the Oakville sporting community. The site was designed by and is administered by current Oakville Sports Council board member Art Walford. "This website is an exciting and new development for the Oakville Sports Council," said OSC chair Cathy Watt. "It is a first step in a series of new initiatives scheduled for the Sports Council." In addition to providing general sport and council news and resource listings on the website, the Sports Council encourages its members to submit events and news items pertinent to their own club.
