Thieves favour pots and pans Police are asking for the public's help in catching thieves who stole expensive pots and pans throughout Oakville. The first incident occurred July 20, when a man made off with pots and pans from the Oakville Place, Sears store. This initial theft was followed by a second, which took place less than half an hour later, when the same thief stole pots and pans from the Sears Store at Mapleview Centre. The same thief and an accomplice struck again on July 23, stealing large boxes of pots and pans from the Oakville Place Mall, Sears Store and again on Aug. 20 when the same man returned to Oakville Place, say police. However, this time an alert security guard saw the thief, as he tried to steal the pots and pans, and chased him. Though empty-handed, the thief escaped the store by jumping into the passenger side of a waiting grey Jeep Cherokee, which then sped off. The man involved in all four thefts is described as white, 6-foot, with short, brown hair. At the time of the theft on July 23, he was wearing grey shorts, dark sunglasses and a blue sports jersey with a white 5 on the back. On Aug. 20, he was wearing a white sports jersey with dark trim, denim shorts, black running shoes and dark sunglasses. On July 20, he was seen fleeing the Oakville Store in a waiting car described as a 1996, red, four door Pontiac, bearing Ontario licence plate # 534ZZN. A second man involved in the theft on July 23, is described as white, 5-foot-8, with short, black hair. During the theft he was wearing a white 3/4 length sleeved shirt and dark pants. In all instances the thieves targeted the brand name `Logistina' with a total loss estimated at $3,600. Halton police continue to investigate these incidents.
