12 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday September 5, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com Halton police investigating string of townhouse break-ins A man tried unsuccessfully to steal from at least two units in a townhouse complex at 1169 Dorval Dr. on Sunday, say Halton Regional Police. A thief broke in to one unit at 4:40 a.m. on Sept. 2 and into another an hour later, entering both by opening unlocked sliding patio doors. In both instances, police say the man was discovered by residents, confronted, then fled. Nothing was stolen. The man is described as white, approximately 20 years of age, 6 -foot and 180 pounds. At the time of the incidents, he was wearing a sport-type sweater with a hood and possibly blue jeans. He was carrying a backpack. Detectives from the Oakville Break and Enter Bureau are investigating and say seven other residences in the same complex had their patio screen doors cut with a tool, possibly to gain access -- unsuccessfully. Police are reminding residents to properly secure their homes.
