ClubLink, which purchased the course from the RCGA in 1999 for $40 million, has spent the last two years tweaking fairways and adding trees in preparation for next year's tournament. "We know it's a terrific golf course, but we also understand the rotation needs and the interest of the rest of Canada to host the Open. As a Canadian, I applaud that," said Charles Lorimer, ClubLink's vice president of sales and marketing. "Criticisms can be made for bars, restaurants, cars and the like. We all like different things and we also change our minds over time. Glen Abbey will be a great site. It's a great golf course and we're very comfortable with it." The 2009 tournament, as well as next year's, will be held in July, immediately following the British Open.
