Journalist couple faces toughest assignment By Krissie Rutherford OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Anne-Marie Mediwake and Darryl Konynenbelt are suddenly outnumbered. They traded their car for a mini van, and it's still not big enough. When they get a chance to rest, Konynenbelt says, "We run to bed when we can sleep, and sleep as much as we possibly can." There's constant activity at their Oakville home. That's because the husband and wife pair, both familiar faces on Global TV, just had triplets. On June 14, Annabel, Maxim and Elizabeth (better known as Libby) were born, all healthy, at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. It was early on in the pregnancy that Mediwake and Konynenbelt found out they were having not one, not two, but three kids. "We were in shock," Mediwake said. First-time parents, they did everything they could to plan for the day the trio would arrive. "You get prepared for it as much as you can," said Mediwake, who is now on maternity leave, but will return to Global TV, where she co-anchored the Ontario News Hour along with Leslie Roberts. "You have to buy three strollers, three car seats, three cribs." As much as everything was in place for the arrival of the triplets, Konynenbelt says, it's been a `learn as you go' experience. "We don't know any better. We learn, every day is a learning experience," he said. "It's a lot of work, but every day they just give you something back. It's a smile, or it's something you learn about them, or something they do for the first time. Then that moment's already lost and you won't see it again."
