www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday September 15, 2007 - 9 Referendum leaves decision to voters By Jason Misner SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER F or the first time in 215 years, Ontarians will be asked a crucial referendum question in the Oct. 10 provincial election that could result in a major change to the voting system and how we determine our ruling government. Popular social networks like YouTube and Facebook, plus mass media and mailing blitzes are among a series of wide-ranging initiatives being utilized to educate the public about the referendum to change the electoral system. Voters will receive a ballot to choose whether to continue the current electoral system known as First-Past-thePost (FPTP) -- in which the person with the highest number of votes wins -- or adopt a new Mixed-Member Proportional (MMP) electoral system. Missionaries started this hospital in 1906, only a few kilometers from the Angola and Congo borders. This is a very busy and very well respected facility with patients coming from miles away by foot or bicycle or whatever means they have in order to obtain the best medical attention possible. They even prefer this hospital to the government hospitals! A visit to Kalene Hospital and you will see men, women and children awaiting treatment from the dedicated staff, who come from all around the globe. Upon a patients dismissal they need to take home their medicines for continued treatment. And this A is where the clients from Herbal Magic Oakville at the Trafalgar and Third Line locations helped with bringing in as many as 603 empty bottles of Herbal Magic products. It may seem unbelievable to us that a simple pill container is not readily available, but such is the case! If you are interested you can check out the Kalene Hospital web page: www.kalenehospital.com. Of special interest is the link to the July 2007 National Geographic article on malaria in Africa titled "Bedlam in the Blood" with several references to the Kalene Hospital. Thank you for recycling your Herbal Magic containers and helping the patients at Kalene Hospital in Zambia. OAKVILLE WEST 1500 Upper Middle Rd. W.
