www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday October 31, 2007 - 11 WINDROW REMOVAL PROGRAM: Registration is now open for the Town's Driveway Snow Windrow Removal Program - a user-paid service for seniors and physically challenged residents. "`Windrows' are the piles of slushy snow that snowplows inadvertently leave at the end of driveways," explained Dan Cozzi, Director, Roads and Works Operations Department, Town of Oakville. "To aid seniors and physically-challenged residents in removing windrows, the Town of Oakville and Links2Care are again offering a Driveway Snow Windrow Removal service this winter." Registration for 2007-2008 winter seasons runs until Nov. 30, with the program ready for implementation the week of Dec. 3. Registrants must bring identification. Registrants restricted through a disability are asked to bring a doctor's note when they register. A user fee of $80 applies to help offset the costs of delivering the windrow program. The service is initiated every time a snowfall exceeds 10 cm (4 inches), and only after the Town has completed plowing all the roads. Depending on the number of applications, it will take between 12 and 24 hours to carry out the service. To register, application forms must be completed in person at: · The Links2Care office (250 Wyecroft Rd., Unit 2): until Nov. 30, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday to Friday · Sir John Colborne Recreation Centre for Seniors (1565 Old Lakeshore Rd.): Wed Oct. 31, 10 a.m. 2 p.m. or Thursday Nov. 1, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. · Iroquois Ridge Older Adults Centre (within the Iroquois Community Centre): Monday, Nov. 5, 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. or Wednesday Nov. 7, 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. · Oakville Senior Citizens' Recreation Centre (263 Kerr St.): Friday, Nov. 16, 10 a.m. 12:30 p.m. OAKVILLE - Celebrating 150 years!
