www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday October 31, 2007 - 17 I hated not being able to dress trendy. And I missed the first three years of my son's hockey because I hated leaving the house for fear that people were looking at me and thinking I was too fat. Now I have more energy, I love to shop for trendy clothes, and my self-esteem is better. Everyone thinks I look great. The program is fast and easy, and if I can do it, anybody can. It's not a diet; it's a lifestyle change. Kim Before 60 pounds and 78 inches *THE REST OF 2007 Kim lost: IS ON US! Taking Steps against cancer The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) Oakville Unit is urging all Oakville high school students to participate in the second annual Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer High School Challenge, that aims to get teens involved in the fight against breast cancer. Slated to take place indoors at Oakville Place Sunday, Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer is a 5km fundraising walk. Last year's inaugural walk drew an unexpectedly large group of participants who raised more than $23,000, a large portion of which was contributed by a number of Oakville high schools competing in the Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer High School Challenge. Students at T.A. Blakelock High School raised more than $2,000, beating out Appleby College and Iroquois Ridge. Students at T.A. Blakelock are again stepping up to the plate. "T.A. Blakelock High School is back and ready to reclaim their Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer High School Challenge title," said Lisa Moffatt, Fundraising Co-ordinator for the CCS Oakville Unit. If Blakelock successfully defends its title, it will receive a $250 Oakville Place gift certificate for the school. All students who participate in the walk will receive two community service hours, for full participation in the event. Students or schools can sign up online by going to www.cancer.ca and clicking the "join an existing team" option on the "Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer Oakville" event page. The event launches at 7:30 a.m. with registration and a light breakfast, courtesy of Tim Hortons. The opening ceremonies, hosted by Wave 94.7 FM, will be held at 8:45 a.m. The walk officially begins at 9 a.m. To register or for information, contact 905-845-5231 or email lmoffatt@ontario.cancer.ca.
