www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday November 2, 2007 - 15 Securit goes outside company to replace deceased founder By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Create the perfect look for your home The Oakville-based information security firm Securit has taken steps to move on, hiring a new president and CEO, after the tragic death of its founder in early September. On Wednesday, Securit's board of directors selected Robert H. Warshauer to succeed the company's Founder, President and CEO Greg Brophy, who was killed along with his brother Sean and two other people when the float plane they were flying crashed in a wooded area outside Anchorage, Alaska. "I am pleased to join the Securit team and carry on the vision of Greg Brophy to build a leading international information security company," said Warshauer. "Securit has experienced tremendous growth and continues to lead the market in managing risk for its customers and safekeeping confidential information." Warshauer's extensive experience, which could not be found among the existing staff at Securit, includes 20 years of working with public and private companies in a wide range of industries. Most recently, Warshauer has served as the president and "The focus is the same. These folks were running their particular areas of the business before the tragic accident and they're continuing to run them now." New Securit president and CEO Robert H. Warshauer member of the board of directors of Lighting Science Group Corporation, a publicly traded advanced technology lighting company. Before this position, Warshauer was a managing director and member of the board of directors of Giuliani Capital Advisors. Assuming the Securit position has been different for Warshauer given the tragic way it became vacant, however, he has resolved to do honour to his predecessor's memory by helping the company continue to excel. "It's a tremendous opportunity to continue the legacy of Greg Brophy. He built a fantastic company. One that's grown at double-digit rates over the past several years and I'm looking forward to continuing that," said Warshauer. "It's clearly a challenge. There's an emotional aspect to this, but the business is doing very well, it's profitable and it's now my challenge to take it to the next level." After being well received by the employees, Warshauer says his duty will now be to make sure communication stays open between senior executives and that everyone continues to work together as a team. "The focus is the same. These folks were running their particular areas of the business before the tragic accident and they're continuing to run them now," said Warshauer. "From a day to day operational perspective not much has changed." Securit has a network of more than 140 branches and 2,600 employees, including 150 working at the company's Oakville office. Ownership of Securit has been transferred to Greg Brophy's spouse, Tracey. If you have a news tip or story idea, call the Oakville Beaver at 845-3824.
