34 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday November 14, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com CELTIC CHRISTMAS CONCERT: Canadian Celtic and folk artist Heather Dale will perform a holiday concert at the Moonshine Café on Saturday, Nov. 24. She and her partner Ben Deschamps play more than a dozen different folk instruments including Irish flute, tin whistles and the bodhran drum and will be playing a mix of original and traditional Christmas tunes. The pair offer contemporary twists on old favourites, whether it's putting a 14th century carol into New Orleans ragtime, or evoking a swirling snowscape with double bass and tiny bells. Dale is currently on tour to promote her Christmas Album, This Endris Night. The record includes traditional holiday songs from the Middle Ages and Renaissance. "We have so much fun at these shows, since it's such a joyful time of year," says Dale, "but I also like to focus on the simplicity and beauty of the original Christmas story, as it was told before the big box stores took over the season." Dale's voice is influenced by Celtic traditions, jazz and folk. The show begins at 9 p.m. at The Moonshine Café, 137 Kerr St. Visit www.themoonshinecafe.com for more information. Tickets cost $5 and are available at the door, or by calling 905-844-2655. www.oakvillebeaver.com
