On Saturday, Nov. 10 the mayor joined council members, Oakville Public Library board members and staff, volunteers, donors, and community representatives to help declare the official opening of the library's newest location. "The Neighbourhood Branch for Clearview is a unique solution to a community need," said Eleanor James, CEO of the Oakville Public Library. "It's the first of its kind in our library system, and we're very pleased to be opening this new location in the year of Oakville's 150th birthday celebrations." An overwhelmingly positive response was received from the more than 270 participants in the survey. The focus of the collection at Clearview is on materials for children and young students, with a selection of popular adult fiction, non-fiction and audio visual items available as well. This branch also has computer stations with internet access and local access to all items in the Oakville Public Library's collection. Residents can place a hold on any item that the library system owns, and have it delivered to the Clearview location for pick-up. Some preschool programs are available, as well as work group and study space. The new branch at 1148 Winston Churchill Blvd. (Unit E) is open Tuesdays 10-6 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays 4-8 p.m., and Saturdays 1-5 p.m. (entrance at Sheridan Garden Drive).
