Khan is hoping to take a busload of lawyers, their families and other citizens from Oakville to join the march on the steps of the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa. The CBA's March in Solidarity with the Defenders of the Rule of Law in Pakistan is a show of support for the lawyers and judges of Pakistan, many of whom have been imprisoned and threatened during the state of emergency in that country. The CBA is calling for the restoration of Pakistan's constitution, release of lawyers, judges, human rights activists and journalists and assurance of a free election in January 2008. "As a citizen of a free world and a democratic society, I am shocked by the imposition of emergency rule and arrests of lawyers and journalists in a country of my ancestors," said Khan, whose family moved to Canada from Pakistan in 1968. "Still my uncles, aunts and close relatives live in the cities of Lahore and Sialkot of Pakistan.
