The setting is a large estate in Knoxville, Tennessee. A group of five wildly different bridesmaids hide out in the bride's bedroom, taking refuge from the ostentatious wedding reception -- each for her own very personal reasons. Over the course of the afternoon, these women discover that they share much more than the identical (and hideous) outfits they wear. Show runs until Dec. 8. For tickets call Sheridan's box office at 905-815-4049. 646 4th Line at Speers Rd. 905.845.4211 careers@oakvilledodge.com sales@oakvilledodge.com The Region has the know-how to carry Halton into the future, but the federal government needs to start chipping in with some of the money. This was the case made by Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr during a meeting with the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, on Tuesday, where he discussed the state of the Region. "We are facing a $300-million deficit in infrastructure," said Carr who went on to recite a staggering list of what will be needed to accommodate growth in Halton by 2031. "We'll need 1,100 new hospital beds, 50 new elementary schools, 14 new secondary schools, 25 community centres, eight libraries, 1,650 acres of parkland development, 25 fire halls, four ambulance stations and six police stations." The more immediate need to build and repair roads, bridges, parks, water and sewage plants, recreation centres, and more does nothing to ease this burden. Carr pointed out that in 1962 municipalities paid for 31 per cent of municipal infrastructure costs and in 2002 they paid 52 per cent. This trend makes no sense, Carr said, as municipal governments only get eight cents out of every tax dollar while the federal government takes 50 cents with the remainder going to the provincial government.
