www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday November 30, 2007 - 5 Do you know an excellent business? Nominations are now open for this year's Oakville Awards for Business Excellence (OABE). Presented jointly by The Rotary Club of Oakville West and the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, these awards recognize local businesses not only for the invaluable contribution they make to the town's economic development, but for their roles as models of excellence. "The awards program has been going strong for 13 years now," said Greg Duffy, co-chair of the OABE organizing committee. "In these last few years, we've seen small businesses flourish and more and more larger companies move into our community. The benchmark of excellence has also changed and we've now adapted the awards categories to better and more fairly represent the scope of businesses in our town." The revised categories are as follows: · Oakville Entrepreneur of the Year; · Oakville Restaurateur of the Year; · Oakville Small Business of the Year; · Oakville Large Business of the Year; · Oakville Service Provider of the Year; · Oakville Environmental Leadership Business of the Year. For more details on the award categories, visit www.oabe.ca. Nominations will be accepted until Dec. 15. Nomination forms can be found at www.oabe.ca and completed online. All nominations will be evaluated in detail by a panel of judges in the new year. Businesses that are nominated are asked to agree to participate and to supply answers to a few basic questions that help the judges in their deliberations. "Judging by the number of high quality nominations we had last year, we are very fortunate to have an active and vibrant business community here in Oakville. We look forward to the same level of success this year, " said Duffy. The gala evening to honour the recipients of the OABE awards are at Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre on April 3. Gala tickets go on sale in late January. The OABE Award has become a local hallmark of business success and excellence. In addition, the proceeds from The Oakville Awards for Business Excellence gala event go to support such important Rotary youth initiatives as the Awards for Academic Excellence, a scholarship and bursary program for graduating Oakville Secondary School students.
