Each was limited to offering a particular type of service: deposit taking and lending; investment brokerage; personal and business insurance; mortgages, loans and term deposits. In 1987, de-regulation of the financial services industry was introduced and companies were able to offer other services. The banks bought investment dealers and trust companies while insurance companies began to offer investments more widely. The goal was to offer investors one stop shopping of sorts a wealth management approach. Wealth management, as it applies to what I do, is the process of understanding your plans, analyzing current financial information, designing a plan and then offering you investments and tailored solutions from some of the best independent providers in the industry. The goal is to provide you with a complete picture and the best possible solutions, so you gain the knowledge and confidence that your advisor will work with you on the overall long-term management of your wealth. Nancy White Q: What Makes a Great Basement? A: In a word, design. Design is truly what makes or breaks the basement you will either choose to spend time in or not. The design of the basement should be an extension of the rest of the home. Thus providing a continuous flow from the main floor carrying it right through to your unfinished storage space in the basement. 905-338-6179 A: If you would like to know more about how a wealth management approach may benefit you, please feel free to call and we'll arrange an appointment. : I haven't prepared a resume for some time. In the past, I always listed my interests and hobbies. Why is that not applicable now? : A resume is marketing tool that is supposed to capture your most relevant work experience, skills, education and achievements on paper, preferably no more than 2 pages in length. A resume's purpose is like a brochure; the employer reads the information and decides if this is a product worth investigating further. If you are able to be clear and concise and use terminology relevant to your industry, you are making it easy for the employer to ask you in for an interview. As for including your interests and hobbies as a category in your resume, this really does not reflect your skills and experience. However, if you can present these as relevant skills that would enhance your candidacy, you can include them with your other achievements or accomplishments. For example, if you hold a Black Belt in karate, you can present this as an accomplishment and elaborate on the skills that you acquired or utilized over the years in meeting this goal (e.g., time management, instruction, working in a team environment, etc.). Q A The process begins with the expertise of a professional structural engineer who will aid you in the elimination of some, if not all of those annoying jack posts, or load bearing walls. It is from this point that the great room of the house begins to unfold. Open concept basements, that begin at the foot of the stairs, allows for multiple uses in one large space. Home theatres, bars, gyms and spas are just some of the ways people are utilizing their new found living space. Basements are no longer the cold un-inviting storage spaces they used to be.
