Between noon and 5 p.m., experience the mirth and merriment of an old-fashioned Christmas during Bronte Village's annual Open House. Look for Santa's elves who will direct you to the open house signs, festooned with balloons, to help guide your way to participating merchants who are offering refreshments, samplings, demonstrations, giveaways, special offers and gift ideas. Bring the entire family for children's fun and festivities, especially the beloved horse-and-wagon rides throughout the village, sponsored by the Bronte Village Mall. Visit each business to meet up with Santa and Mrs. Claus and be in best voice to enjoy caroling with The Graytones Barbershoppers. Enjoy lunch or dinner at one of Bronte's excellent eateries. At 6:30 pm, head to the Gazebo in Heritage Waterfront Heritage Park for the annual tree lighting and Christmas Walk. The fun will start with Oakville's new Town Crier who will welcome special guests, especially the much-anticipated Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, who will be on hand to greet kids of all ages. At the Gazebo Stage, adorned for the evening courtesy of Terra Nurseries, enjoy the Oakville Men's Chorus performing favourite carols to warm the night. In addition, Amelia Sadowski, the former Bronte Idol will be on hand to perform. After warming yourself with hot chocolate and cookies courtesy of the Lions Club of Oakville, follow Santa's elves along the lighted path to the magical tree lighting ceremony beside the Harbour Lighthouse Restaurant.
