Oakville went 3-1 in round-robin action, then defeated the host Chatham squad 2-1 in the championship game to claim the Tom Reeve Memorial title. Members of the team are Michael Cookish, Griffen Wallace-Higgs, Jackson Bales, Jordan Boulding, Mark Bzowey, Sean Courage, Mitch Denis, Nick Greco, Robert Hudson, Sean Keating, Brian Keatings, Kyle McLaren, Matthew Simonot, Zach Stamegna, Ryan Tomka, Aidan Challis and Brandon Wood. Brian Stamegma, Brian Wood and Todd Courage coach the team. Rob Cookish is the trainer and Cort Challis is the manager. Novice A The Oakville novice A Rangers won their first four games at the recent Guelph Powerplay Tournament before falling 3-2 to the Niagara Wolves and settling for silver. Peewee AE The Oakville Ren's Pet Depot peewee AE Rangers enjoyed a perfect month in November, going 8-0 in league play and 40 at the Toronto Ice Dogs tournament. Oakville outscored its opposition 35-9 in the eight league games, and downed Toronto 5-2 in the final of the Ice Dogs tournament to earn its second gold of the year. Stingy Hawks win Montreal tourney The season of giving is quickly approaching, but the Loyola Hawks weren't in a charitable mood at last weekend's Canadian Cup boys' high school hockey tournament. In fact, Loyola was downright miserly, allowing only three goals in five games as it posted a 4-1 record to win the championship at the Montreal competition. "We'd never even made it to the playoff round of that tournament before, and this was our fourth year going there," said Hawks coach Larry Litzgus. "To win (gold) was pretty big." The Hawks clinched the title with a 3-0 blanking of Sault Ste. Marie in the final, avenging a 1-0 loss to the Soo earlier in the tournament. Loyola also posted wins over Halton league rivals T.A. Blakelock, Milton District and Lester B. GETTING Pearson during the competition. DEFENSIVE: The Hawks netminding tandem of Justin Singer and The Loyola Hawks Domenic Palmieri led the way defensively, while Braydon won the Canadian Chow had two goals and three assists in the tournament to Cup boys' high school hockey tour- earn the MVP award. Loyola captain Shane Wilton scored four times -- includnament last weeking a hat trick against Milton -- and Rob Taal and Brandon end in Montreal, allowing only three Lincz each scored three goals.
