18 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday December 12, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com Do you know a worthy Jailbird? Members of the Oakville community will be `doing some time' for a good cause on Friday, Feb.8, at the Canadian Cancer Society Jail-N-Bail. `Jailbirds' of all ages will be `arrested' on humorous charges such as being a baseball addict or wearing white after Labour Day. Volunteers from the Halton Regional Police Department will be teaming up with the Canadian Cancer Society to "arrest" all wanted felons and bring them to a makeshift jail located at Oakville Place Shopping Centre. Jailbirds will be brought before a celebrity judge where they will review the charges laid and set the bail for each perpetrator. `Sentencing' will take place from 10- 4 p.m. at Centre Court. Once in jail, jailbirds will have the chance to call friends, colleagues, their mom, or anyone that will help them raise their bail (set at a pre-determined amount) to help set them free. "This is one great cause that I don't mind being a jailbird for," said the recently `arrested' Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn. "Congratulations to the Oakville Unit on their continued drive for cancer research and support services. Riviera Hairstylists 40th Anniversary Sale $ Tips for gorgeous, healthy hands · Protect your hands by wearing sunscreen every day and gloves when doing work that might damage them, such as cleaning, gardening or shoveling. This is the first and most important step to minimizing the signs of aging. · Slough off dead skin cells and give your hands a smoother and healthier appearance. Mix together some sea salt and lemon juice. Brush it into your hands with an old toothbrush a couple of times a week and then rinse. It's rejuvenating. · Soften your hands even while you do the dishes. Add a little almond oil (about a teaspoon) to your dishwater. The water will reduce roughness, while the oil seals the moisture into your skin. · Strengthen fragile nails by heating a cup of milk in the microwave for about 30 seconds (or until warm). Then soak your hands in the milk for about five minutes. Its high calcium content works to strengthen brittle nails. · Alleviate dry, cracked hands using leftovers. Create a mask with warm mashed potatoes (that contain milk or olive oil) and apply it to your hands. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and then rinse with cool water. · Lighten age spots that appear on your hands due to sun exposure (hint: they look like large freckles). Simply dab a cotton ball into freshly squeezed lemon juice and apply to the spots twice a day until you get the desired results (usually in about six to eight weeks). - News Canada 171 SPEERS RD. #19, OAKVILLE 75.00 EyelashELASH EY Extensions LA AvailableNS EXTENTIO $ www.hairchateau.com (check website for new client discount) OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK Mon., Tues., Thurs., Fri. 9:30-9:00pm, Wed. 9:30-6:00pm, Sat. 9:00-5:00, Sun. 12:00-5:00pm A75.00!
