SMITH, Mark Lynton (1978-2007)- Mark was an adventurer, an outdoorsman and a sportsman. He loved to challenge himself and experience the great outdoors firsthand. Mark was a night porter and street juggler in France, a ski instructor, a carpenter, an artist, a mentor, a rock climber, a pool shark, a golfer, an AAA hockey player, a soccer and baseball star, and a wonderful man. Mark was gifted in his ability to reach out and connect with others. He celebrated every day with those who were lucky enough to know him. As a camp counselor in Algonquin Park, Mark realized that he loved working with youth. Recently he became a counselor for at-risk youth in Calgary, and in a very short time he made a difference in their lives. On Saturday, December 8th, Mark and his good friend John lost their lives in an avalanche while back-country skiing in Kananaskis Park, Alberta. Mark's life is being celebrated by his parents, Anne and Lynton; his sister Rachel (Shawn); his brother Adam; other family members and his many friends throughout the world. Visitation hours are 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Sunday Dec 16th at Glen Oaks Memorial Chapel and Reception Centre, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville (Ninth Line at Dundas St. 905-257-8822).
