www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday December 19, 2007 - 35 Six unanswered goals lift Blades over Streetsville The upcoming Christmas break seems to be about the only thing capable of slowing down the Oakville Blades these days. The local Provincial Junior A Hockey League squad extended its season-high winning streak to 13 games with a 6-2 victory over the Streetsville Derbys Friday at Joshua's Creek Arenas. Oakville spotted the Derbys a 2-0 first-period lead before scoring the final six goals of the contest. Nick McParland led the way with a goal and three assists, while Luke Moodie and Julian Cimadamore each added two goals and a helper. Trevor Eckenswiller also enjoyed a three-point evening, collecting three assists. Blake Barbieri had the Blades' other marker, and Oliver Wren stopped 19 of 21 shots to earn the victory in goal. Oakville (25-4-3) holds a 10-point lead on Hamilton for first place in the West Conference standings. The Blades also have two games in hand on the Red Wings. Oakville will host the Georgetown Raiders Friday, a 7:30 p.m. start at Joshua's Creek Arenas, before concluding the 2007 portion of its schedule with a visit to the Mississauga Chargers the following night. The Blades will then be off for two weeks, resuming the season Jan. 4 with a game at Milton.
