Residents here have proven for the 23rd consecutive year that they know how to keep a promise. Led by two visionaries, local businessmen Trent and Todd Courage, more than 400 brave souls charged into the icy waters of Lake Ontario on Jan. 1, 2008. Why? To keep their promise to African children and families whom they have never even met. Now that's commitment. Participants in the 23rd annual Courage Brothers' Polar Bear Dip for World Vision broke all previous records, raising $59,000 to help bring clean water to eight communities in Sudan. On behalf of people in those communities and World Vision Canada, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Courage brothers, the dippers and all those who supported them. Your commitment is bringing hope and health to Sudan, one of the most needy countries in Africa.
