Basile said his motivation to carry this project forward came from the knowledge that he had the ability to do so. "It's easy to give a cheque, but if you have the ability, you can do more," he said. "Through a very unfortunate, but ultimately good experience with Christina, a window opened and it was just a question of whether I wanted to step through it. There was enough of a network around me that I could do this." Not satisfied with bringing Upopolis solely to McMaster, Basile and Christina have plans underway to implement the network at two more children's hospitals in the near future.
