This classic comedy, penned in 1892 by British actor Brandon Thomas, opens Thursday at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. "It's full of all the usual farce elements," says Peter Kunder, director of the Burl-Oak Theatre Group production. "The oppressed lovers, the overbearing and mean parents, guardian parents, mistaken identities and a guy dressing up as a woman. "The plot keeps rolling, the twist and turns and mistakes keep coming." Among the funniest mistakes is when two men ­ Sir Francis Chesney (Andy Rowe) and Stephen Spettigue (Rob McMullan), actually lust after the man dressed as a woman. "They want me for my money, because I have millions," said Chris Stolz, clad in a grey wig, glasses and a skirt for his role as the aunt-impersonator, Babberley. Of course, dressing as a woman is nothing new for Stolz. "I've played about seven women," he said, including when he donned a dress to play an ugly stepsister in Cinderella. "In this particular case, it's a little different because I'm actually known as a guy playing a lady."
