MICHAEL IVANIN / SPECIAL TO THE OAKVILLE BEAVER Blades' win streak hits 19 Cimadamore, McParland continue scoring tear Julian Cimadamore and Nick McParland continued their offensive rampage last weekend, helping the Oakville Blades extend their winning streak to 19 games in Provincial Junior A Hockey League action. The two forwards, both coming off sixpoint efforts in their previous game, each collected five points in an 11-2 drubbing of the Streetsville Derbys Friday at Joshua's Creek Arenas. Cimadamore then had a goal and two assists in a 4-2 home win over the Hamilton Red Wings the following night, with McParland also earning a helper. McParland, who had a hat trick and added two assists against Streetsville, leads the Blades with 67 points in 38 games. Cimadamore has the most goals on the team (26), one more than McParland. They weren't the only players to enjoy multi-point nights against Streetsville. Jeff Grenier and Geoff Guimond both had three assists, while Luke Moodie, Dustin Alcock, Chris Corbeil and Kellan Lain each had a goal and a helper. Also netting markers for the Blades against Streetsville were Lindsay Sparks, Jeremy Welsh and affiliate player Tyler Karius. Dan Hunt, Steven Guzzo, Evan Delaney and Chris Haltigin had assists, and Oliver Wren stopped 24 of 26 shots to earn the win. The Blades actually trailed Friday's contest 2-1 after one period, but blew the game open with seven unanswered tallies in the second frame. Saturday, the Blades were without regulars Trevor Eckenswiller, Scott Judson, Jeremy Welsh and Shawn Teakle, but still managed to pull out the victory over one of their fiercest West Conference rivals. Cimadamore broke a 2-2 tie with 13 minutes to go in the second period, and Hunt added an insurance marker in the third period for Oakville. Moodie and Haltigin also scored in the win, while Scott Greenham made 28 saves. Notching assists were Moodie, Hunt, Lain and Sparks. Now 31-4-3 on the season, the Blades are 15 points ahead of the Brampton Capitals and Georgetown Raiders for first place in the West Conference standings. Oakville could clinch top spot -- and a first-round bye in the playoffs -- as early as this weekend, when it plays a homeand-home series with Georgetown. Oakville will host the Raiders Friday, a 7:30 p.m. start, before traveling to Georgetown the following night. -- Jon Kuiperij SENIOR CHAMPS: An Oakville Curling Club rink won all five of its games at last weekend's TCA Energizer Senior Men's Curling Championship, claiming the title. Tamowski rink crowned senior champ Kurt Tamowski and his Oakville Curling Club rink left little doubt as to who the top team was at last weekend's TCA Energizer Senior Men's Curling Championship. The rink of Tamowski, Darcy Reid, Don Davis and Michael Fairbairn concluded an undefeated showing with a 9-2 rout of Kevin Jackson's Tam Heather Curling and Tennis Club rink in the final. "This is a great bonspiel," said Tamowski. "We met lots of new people and had a wonderful time." This was the second year the Tamowski rink competed in the championships, which featured 80 teams in the Senior Men's division. A total of 300 rinks from across the Greater Toronto Area competed in the bonspiel's three divisions: Open, Senior (50-plus) and Senator (65-plus).
