26 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday January 25, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com Still time to register for SAVIS' Incredibowl 2008 The Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Services (SAVIS) of Halton presents its second annual bowlathon fundraiser, Incredibowl 2008: Pop...Goes the 80s, on Saturday, Feb. 16. It's from 2-5 p.m. at Burlington Bowl, 4065 Harvester Rd. Last year's bowlathon raised $20,000. SAVIS is still looking for teams of four to six bowlers to collect pledges and participate in this year's event. Register a team and get ready to groove to tunes from the 80s! Registration will include three hours, unlimited bowling under the neon lights, prizes, competitions, a light lunch, and a grand prize draw. Register for JK/SK The Halton District School Board is now registering for Junior and Senior Kindergarten (JK and SK) for September 2008. Parents are asked to drop by or call their designated elementary school to find out which dates have been established for Kindergarten registration. They are also asked to bring the following original documents when registering: · Proof of their child's age (birth certificate or passport) · Their child's immunization record · Their child's Ontario Health Card · Proof of address · If they are not the child's parent, bring proof of custody (court order). To register for Fall 2008, JK children must be four years old by Dec. 31, 2008, and SK children must be five years old by Dec. 31, 2008. Parents/guardians must be public school supporters. Parents with children who will attend JK or SK at one of the new schools presently under construction are instructed to register at the school they would be slated to attend under the current school assignments. Check on the school boundary maps on the Halton District School Board web site at www.hdsb.ca (click on the button titled "School information" on the homepage). Ensure children are registered by Feb. 8, 2008. Nominate an educator If you know a teacher, principal, viceprincipal or another educator who deserves some recognition for a job well done, now is the time to speak up. The second annual Premier's Awards for Teaching Excellence is accepting nominations of outstanding educators from students, parents, fellow educators and members of the community. Anyone can nominate a school or school board staffer in Ontario's publiclyfunded education system. There are six categories: Teacher of the Year; New Teacher of the Year; Excellent Support Staff; Excellence in Leadership; Lifetime Achievement; and Team of the Year.
