Throughout the afternoon employees handed out flyers and picketed outside of Central West's Bond Street facility for the mentally handicapped, some bearing signs that read, `My Medical Documents are My Business,' and `Employer Defies WSIB (Workplace Safety Insurance Board), Human Rights and Collective Agreement.' The dispute, employees said, is the result of a new sick policy adopted by Central West (formerly Oaklands Regional Centre), which would require staff to give management access to their medical documents. The policy change is intended to protect Central West's paid sick time program against abuse, however, Central West employee Susan Walker, who is also the President of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Local 249, believes accessing an employee's medical documents goes too far.
